ACTION JEUNESSE ENFANCE MADAGASCAR (AJEM)
AJEM is a Malagasy NGO created by Mme Nina Lalasoa for the support of children and young students. Lalasoa`s commitment to this field over 28 years has enabled many children and young people to become responsible and independent adults
AJEM provides three types of assistance:
Assistance for university students
This support is provided to young people without the financial means to continue tertiary education after completing their Baccalaureate. University registration, internships, preparation of thesis, meals and transport costs are covered by AJEM. Additional assistance is provided to young people who require independent accommodation
Registration and monthly tuition fees are paid directly to the university by AJEM.
Ongoing monitoring is provided by a social worker and overseen by the head of vocational guidance
School support
AJEM pays the annual school fee at public or private schools. Any children with learning difficulties, are supported out of school time
For children with good academic levels and abilities, there is the possibility of enrolment in bilingual private schools. Knowing that thesis must be written and presented in French, it is essential for students to be bilingual, and this begins in primary school
AJEM has established fund raising ventures, manufacturing and selling environmentally friendly products such as recycled sanity napkins, shopping bags, eco charcoal, flowers, vegetables and pot plants.
Bed and breakfast is available for AJEM volunteers. We can accommodate two at present. w
DONATIONS
To facilitate donations in Madagascar the Association Solemada (partner of AJEM) has set up an account in France where the transfer to AJEM is made once a month, to minimize bank fees
A tax deductible receipt can be issued by Association Solemada if necessary
